February 26, 2019 / Lady 'Blazers run win streak to eight games

ULLIN, Ill. -The Vincennes University women’s basketball team raced out to a 22-6 lead after the first 10 minutes of play Tuesday night and never looked back.

The Lady ‘Blazers won their eighth straight game to improve to 21-6 on the season after a 96-55 lopsided win at Shawnee.

Freshman Reeva Hammelman led five different VU players in double figures with 16 points in the win.

Hammelman also added eight rebounds and dished out six assists.

Fess Hawkins recorded her second straight double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Jaynice Stovall also scored 15 points.

Stovall came up with four steals and handed out three assists.

Jhala Henry (13) and Sofia Besedina (11) combined for 24 points in the win.

The Trailblazers conclude their regular season when they travel to undefeated and No. 1 ranked Wabash Valley on Friday night.
