Pioneer Oil, Inc., scholarships established to assist VU students in trade skills majors

VINCENNES, Ind. - Vincennes University students pursuing a degree in a wide range of technology majors will have the opportunity to apply for two new scholarships established by Pioneer Oil, Inc., in collaboration with the VU Foundation.

“As owner and operator of Pioneer Oil Company, and many other service entities, I have seen the significant need for employees with industrial trade skills. I firmly believe that if you are passionate about learning and can develop a trade skill, you will be able to earn a good wage,” explained Donald Jones, President of Pioneer Oil, Inc. “Further, I believe that Vincennes University has, and will continue to have, an important role in the higher education system in establishing a strong educational foundation for students. It is my hope that this scholarship will be an encouragement to pursue a trade skill.”

Interim Foundation Director Kristi Deetz stated, “We are very grateful for the generosity Mr. Jones has shown for supporting students interested in key workforce demands throughout the state of Indiana and for supporting Vincennes University’s role in meeting those needs through the success of our students.”

The program will provide two annual scholarships for VU students enrolled at any Vincennes University campus. Scholarship criteria include being a degree-seeking student within one of 20 majors in the College of Technology.
