Student Trustee Emma J. Marsh, Bruceville, was honored for her year of service with the Board. Pat Konkle was honored for her many years of service as the administrative assistant for five past VU presidents and for her exemplary services as the secretary of the VU Board of Trustees. Provost Laurel Smith was honored for her many years of service with the University as she plans to retire. ###

VINCENNES, Ind. - The Vincennes University Board of Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, June 27, at 10:45 a.m. EST.

John Stachura, chair, offered congratulations to Coach Dennis Chattin and members of the VU Golf Team for recently earning the team’s third national title in six years.  He mentioned that the Indiana State Mine Rescue Contest was recently held in VU’s Mock Mine facility located at the Gibson County Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics. In all, 12 teams participated from Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois. Stachura also cited the groundskeeping staff for keeping the Vincennes Campus looking clean and attractive.

A report from the University Affairs committee was presented by President Chuck Johnson for subcommittee chair Reggie Henderson. The report involved updating the Bylaws of the Faculty Senate to reflect current terminologies, personnel, trends, and titles.

Updates were presented by Kristi Deetz, senior director of External Relations, and Heidi Whitehead, director of Admissions.

Three individuals were presented with citations of special recognition:

* Student Trustee Emma J. Marsh, Bruceville, was honored for her year of service with the Board. She plans to transfer to USI to pursue a degree in social work.

* Provost Laurel Smith was honored for her many years of service with the University, as a faculty member and an administrator, as she plans to retire. She will work closely with her replacement, Dr. Laura J. Treanor.

* Pat Konkle was honored for her many years of service as the administrative assistant for five past VU presidents and for her exemplary services as the secretary of the VU Board of Trustees.
