Tickets available now for Chinese New Year dinner on Feb. 5

VINCENNES, Ind. - The public is invited to a Chinese New Year celebration dinner hosted by the Vincennes University Office of International Affairs on Feb. 5, 6 p.m. (EST), at Green Activities Center.

Tickets cost $5 and are available at VU’s Old Post Bookstore in the Beckes Student Union.  VU students and employees may obtain one free ticket by going to the Student Center in the Student Union. Information is available by calling 812-888-5886.

The menu will feature traditional Chinese dishes and VU Chinese students will present a Chinese poem in Mandarin.

The keynote address will be presented by Dr. Ying Shang, dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Evansville. Her research areas include discrete-event systems, max-plus linear systems, and hybrid systems with applications in queueing networks, manufacturing systems, and transportation networks.

She previously served as the chair of electrical and computer engineering at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville.

Dr. Shang earned her doctoral and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and her baccalaureate degree in control engineering from Shandong University.
