January 29, 2019 / Trailblazers climb to No. 2 in national poll
 

VINCENNES, Ind. – After completing the regular-season sweep of John A. Logan, the Vincennes University men’s basketball team rose two spots to No. 2 in the NJCAA Division I national poll released Tuesday.

The Trailblazers (19-1) were ranked fourth in last week’s poll and have been ranked as high as No. 1 this season.

VU received three first-place votes in the latest poll and 382 points. Florida SouthWestern State earned the No. 1 ranking with 13 first-place votes and 397 points.

Coffeyville (354), Northwest Florida State (346) and South Plains (334) rounded out the top five.

Host VU defeated John A. Logan 86-76 last Saturday, dropping the Vols three spots to No. 6. The Trailblazers also beat John A. Logan 85-67 on Nov. 14.

On Monday night, VU routed Lewis and Clark 77-49 in a weather-related makeup game in Godfrey.

The Trailblazers play at Southeastern Illinois Wednesday in Harrisburg, Illinois at 8:30 p.m. EST. VU plays another road game Saturday at Lake Land in Mattoon, Illinois at 2 p.m. EST.
