INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - For the second straight weekend the
Vincennes University men’s and women’s indoor track and field team
traveled to the University of Indianapolis for competition.
No team score was kept for the Tom Hathaway Distance
Classic, but a few Trailblazers finished with high marks.
The men’s 4,000 distance medley relay team came away with
the best performance with the only first-place finish. The quartet of David McCullough, Zach Allen, Josh
Vaquero finished with a time of 10 minutes, 42.65
seconds - 23 seconds faster than second-place Indianapolis.
The same four runners teamed up for a third-place finish in
the 1,600 relay. They posted a time of 3:41.22.
The Trailblazers also had success in the throws.
Silas Ristl placed second in the shot put with
a best heave of 16.84 meters.
Alfred Stubbs and James Smith finished third and sixth,
respectively, in the weight throw. Stubbs’ best toss was good for
17.38m, while Smith’s best mark was 15.22m.
Tony Cappola finished fourth in the pole vault
by clearing 4.28m, while Steve Hogan placed 11th with a mark of 3.83m.
Cambrin Dixon placed ninth in the 600 with a
time of 1:27.98 and Nickolas Riggles also placed ninth in the
heptathlon with 3,762 points.
On the women’s side, the Lady ‘Blazers 1,600 relay team came
away with a sixth-place finish. Taylin Brandenberger,
Heaven Kirksey, Liz Bredeweg and Mariah Wallace finished with a time of 4:37.69.
Kaylee Lange placed ninth in the 800 with a
2:41, while Jazzmine Poole finished 12th and 14th in the
shot put and weight throws, respectively.
The Trailblazers return to the track Saturday at the Indiana
Wesleyan University Invite in Marion, Indiana.
