April 18, 2019 / Trailblazers get 11 hits in non-conference baseball game

GALLATIN, Tenn. – The Vincennes University baseball team had nearly as many hits as Volunteer State, but the Trailblazers couldn’t put runs on the scoreboard and fell 13-6 in a non-conference game on Wednesday.

They produced 11 hits, one less than the host team. VU had chances to score, but stranded 10 runners.

VU scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning and was ahead 4-0. Volunteer State scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Sophomore Isaiah Davis led the Trailblazers hit a two-run single in the the fourth to make it 4-0. He went 2-for-4.

Sophomore Walker Paris, freshman Ryan Robison and sophomore Brian Campbell contributed two hits apiece.

Sophomore pitcher Luke Lancaster took the loss for VU. He struck out two, walked one and allowed four runs on five hits in 1.2 innings.

The Trailblazers have an 18-19 overall record.

They return to Mid-West Athletic Conference action on Monday and Tuesday against Lewis and Clark at Jerry Blemker Field. The four-game series was originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, but the scheduled was change due to field conditions and a rainy forecast.

Monday’s doubleheader begins at 3 p.m. EDT. The doubleheader on Tuesday starts at 11:30 a.m. EDT.
