February 12, 2019 / Trailblazers ranked No. 2 for third consecutive week

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University men’s basketball team is ranked No. 2 for the third straight week in the NJCAA Division I national poll.

With an impressive 23-1 record, the Trailblazers received 384 points and two first-place votes in the poll released Tuesday.

The top four teams remain the same for the third straight week. Florida SouthWestern State is ranked first with 397 points and 14 first-place votes. Second-ranked VU is followed by No. 3 Coffeyville (366) and No. 4 Northwest Florida State (356). Ranger took over the No. 5 spot from John A. Logan, which dropped to a tie for eighth.
The Trailblazers have been ranked as high as No. 1 this season and started off with a 15-0 record. VU has reeled off eight straight wins, including a 70-57 victory over visiting Kaskaskia on Saturday. The only loss for the Trailblazers occurred in an overtime game on Jan. 9 that Olney Central won 98-96.

VU plays Lincoln Trail Wednesday inside the P.E. Complex at 7 p.m. EST.  The Trailblazers play a road game against Olney Central Saturday at 4 p.m. EST. The Knights are ranked 14th in the current poll.
