April 17, 2019 / Trailblazers wrap up spring volleyball season

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball team played four matches at a Spring Scrimmage Tournament at the University of Evansville on Saturday.

Allison Ruddick notched 53 digs, Kloie McGrew recorded 39 assists and Mackenzie Haworth tallied 17 kills in eight sets over four matches.

Each match consisted for two 15-minute sets.

Kentucky Wesleyan College beat VU 2-0. The University of Evansville won 2-0 against the Trailblazers. VU won 2-0 over DePauw University. The Trailblazers tied Indiana University East 1-1.

Lucie Strasser contributed 32 assists.

Brantli Lannan and McGrew posted 21 digs apiece. Alison Smith recorded 19 digs.

Ariana Gentzler had four blocks, while Ryleigh Fidler finished with three.

Fidler and Smith also had 12 kills apiece.

McGrew led the Trailblazers with four aces. Ruddick served up two aces.

“This was our last spring event and it was an excellent day or nearly nonstop competition at a very high level,” VU Volleyball Coach Gary Sien said. “We saw all the divisions beside our own - NCAA Division I, II and III, and NAIA.

“It was a great showcase for us to show other levels what we do. Besides the great competition, it was an opportunity for our students to be seen and recruited, both in the present and of course, in the future.”
