December 2, 2019 / Vincennes University nationally recognized for teacher preparation

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University has earned national recognition for excellence in teacher preparation.

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) has announced VU earned accreditation for its educator preparation program. VU is one of 59 providers approved under thorough CAEP Teacher Preparation Standards and a meticulous review process. CAEP is the sole nationally recognized accrediting body for educator preparation.

“This honor states that ‘These providers meet high standards so that their students receive an education that prepares them to succeed in a diverse range of classrooms after they graduate’,” VU Education Department Chair and Associate Professor Ann Herman said.

“We have always believed that we prepare our graduates to be fantastic educators, and now we have the designation to prove that.” Herman said. “We are very grateful for the support we have received throughout this process. Current and former students, VU faculty and staff, and partners with surrounding school corporations contributed to this report and site visit. Receiving this honor is both humbling and satisfying, however, we know our work is not complete. We will continue to gather data and input from our K-12 partners to update curriculum and make improvements to meet the ever-changing needs of the education community.”
