September 6, 2019 / Vincennes University to host Sept. 11 memorial stair climb

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University students, first responders, and the public will honor victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with a memorial stair climb on Sept. 11.

The public is welcome at the event and is invited to participate in the climb. The climb will be held at the P.E. Complex on the VU campus from 6-9 p.m. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. The climb is scheduled to begin around 6:15 p.m.

T-shirts will be sold for $20 with proceeds benefitting the Fallen Firefighters Foundation, which will also receive any donations.

Organizers of the event include the Emergency Services Association in partnership with students from the VU Fire Science and VU Homeland Security programs, Eta Sigma Iota, VU Residential Life, and Sigma Pi Fraternity.

“This event is extremely important and an event like this really brings young and old together," VU Fire Science Major and Event Organizer Jackson Rumble said. "You can honor and respect those who lost their lives on that day. This event is so much bigger than ourselves.”
