VU Board of Trustees meet
VINCENNES, Ind. - The Vincennes University Board of Trustees
held its annual meeting on Monday and John Stachura was elected to
serve another term as chair. Citing the many accomplishments of VU
President Chuck Johnson, the Board voted to extend his contract by
another year, for a total of three additional years.
In a report from the Finance/Revenue Committee, chair Mike
Sievers reported that the final two bids had been accepted for
mechanical and concrete work at the new Ag Center.
Kristi Deetz, senior director of External Relations, began with
a quick update on current systemwide enrollment. “As we close in on
the Oct. 15 official census date, we note that the current number is
16,610, with multiple programs such as military education and distance
education continuing to enroll students right up to that census date.”
Deetz noted that the Early College program has already exceeded
their official enrollment from last year and Project Excel has been
enrolling up to 300 students per week.
In other business:
* The University worked with the
Regional Development Authority and received $1.5 million from the
Regional Development Corporation to support the University’s
partnership with Grouseland and the French Village project. The DAR
has been very supportive of the project, which will include a new
visitors center.
* Adult Basic Education received a $200,000
contract from the Department of Workforce Development to scale up
online programs.
* Earlier this fall VU launched a new
certificate program in leadership for associates at Subaru and the
program will roll out soon.
