April 12, 2018 / VU student art exhibition opens April 17

VINCENNES, Ind. - The 2018 Vincennes University Juried Student Art Exhibition will open April 17 at VU’s Shircliff Gallery of Art. Featuring 100 juried selections of works by VU Art and Design students, the exhibition will run through April 27. An opening reception and awards ceremony will take place at the gallery at 11 a.m. (EDT). VU President Chuck Johnson will present the awards.

For inclusion in the exhibition, student submissions are evaluated by an independent juror - an expert in the field of art with knowledge and understanding of undergraduate art works - which provides an educational experience for students in preparation for professional careers in art. Brett Anderson, associate professor of art at the University of Southern Indiana, Evansville, served as the juror.

Best of Show awards will be presented in two-dimensional medium and three-dimensional medium.  First place, second place, and honorable mentions will be awarded in the categories of Ceramics, Color and Design, Computer Art and Design, Drawing I, Drawing II, Graphic Design I, Graphic Design II, Graphic Design III, Painting, Photography I, Photography II, Printmaking, Sculpture, Three-Dimensional Design, and Two-Dimensional Design.

Vincennes University is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). Graduates have transferred to more than 70 four-year colleges and professional art schools around the country.
