Dr. Bernard J. Verkamp
Professor Bernard J. Verkamp, Ph.D. was born in Huntingburg, Indiana. He chaired the Philosophy Department from 1973 to 2011. He holds his Doctorate degree in historical theology from St. Louis University and his Bachelor’s in philosophy from St. Meinrad Seminary. He studied under the theologian Fr. Karl Rahner at the University of Innsbruck in Austria. He is the author of numerous published articles and six books, including Encyclopedia of Philosophers on Religion, Evolution of Religion, Senses of Mystery: Religious and Non-religious, and Moral Treatment of Returning Warriors in Early Medieval and Modern Times.
