Professor Cunningham is the Chair of the Law Enforcement Program at Vincennes University. He teaches Crime Scene and Criminal Investigation, Criminal Minds and Deviant Behavior, Substantive Criminal Law, Ethics, and both levels of Police Operations. Professor Cunningham is a proud VU alum, having earned an A.S. in Business Administration and another in Funeral Services. Additionally, he has earned a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Southern Indiana and an M.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Indiana State University

Prior to his teaching career at Vincennes University, Professor Cunningham worked as a Trooper for the Illinois State Police. He has received specialized training in international motor carrier inspection, fire and explosion investigation, and crime scene processing. Additionally, Professor Cunningham has worked as a volunteer fireman and assists at the Cunningham Funeral Homes.
