People are becoming more interested in where their food comes from and how it is grown. The Sustainable Foods and Farming Systems degree will give you the tools and knowledge of small-scale farming. This includes the wise use of inputs including non-chemical pest and soil management. You can study the principles of design and management of integrated small farm systems whether it be organic, low-input, locally produced and marketed, or urban agriculture systems. This science-based curriculum prepares you to pursue a variety of sustainable farming systems programs.
What's Unique about this Degree: This program is designed to prepare students for a bachelor’s degree in sustainable food practices involving organic, local, and urban agriculture systems.
Good to Know: Vincennes University’s two-year Sustainable Foods and Farming Systems is a cooperative effort between VU and Purdue University.
Who is this degree for: Upon completing the AS degree, you’ll have a number of options including transferring to Purdue or another four-year institution to pursue a baccalaureate degree, creating your own small farm business, or returning to the farm.
